Refunds
This page describes how money is returned if a paid seat is later confirmed by invoice. This website does not take payment; the policy applies to invoices issued by the Milton desk.
Eligibility
A refund may be requested by the person (or company) named on the invoice for a Clinic Ticket, Ledger Seat, Signal Term, or Private Observatory. Informal deposits agreed by email are treated as part of that invoice once issued. Browsing this site or sending the enquiry form creates no payment and therefore nothing to refund.
Last updated: 18 August 2026.
Timeframe
Write to us no later than fourteen calendar days after the invoice is paid if you wish to cancel before the programme opens. For Signal Term, “opens” means the first listed studio date on your confirmation. For a Clinic Ticket, it means the Thursday you were assigned. Requests after that window are considered under the partial rules below, not as an automatic cooling-off after teaching has begun.
United Kingdom consumer cooling-off rights may give you additional protection if you booked as a consumer at a distance. Where those rights apply, they prevail over a stricter sentence on this page. Business bookings follow this page and the invoice.
Full refund
If you cancel in writing before the programme opens, and we have not already incurred a non-recoverable guest or room cost specifically for your seat, we refund the fee in full. If we must cancel an intake (illness of the principal, or a cohort below the minimum of three live seats for Signal Term), you receive a full refund or a transfer to the next numbered intake, at your choice.
Partial refund
If Signal Term has begun but fewer than four studios have run, we may refund fifty percent of the fee, less any London table deposit already spent on your behalf. After four studios, or once a viva date is set, the fee is treated as earned for that intake. Ledger Seat after the second evening is similarly earned. Clinic Tickets after the session starts are not partially refunded; you receive the written recap instead.
Observatory retainers may be ended at a month-end with thirty days’ notice. Unused whole months after the notice period are returned; a month already in progress is not sliced by the day.
Non-refundable items
Travel, hotels, and your own engineering time are never refunded by us. Guest-operator dinners, if separately itemised and already held, are non-refundable. Alumni-list access is not a separable product; it ends if a term is refunded in full before opening, and otherwise runs for the period you actually sat.
Refund process
Email info@controlpacketgrid.digital with the invoice number, the programme name, and whether you want money back or a transfer. We confirm in writing within five working days. Do not send card details. If we agree a refund, we return it by the same method originally used (typically United Kingdom bank transfer). We do not refund in cash at the terrace address.
Processing time and method
Once approved, expect the funds to leave our account within ten working days. Your bank may take longer to show them. Currency conversion, if you paid from outside sterling, is your bank’s affair; we refund the sterling figure on the invoice.
Cancellation by you or by us
You cancel by the email above. We cancel an intake only for the reasons in “Full refund”, or if you breach the acceptable-use rules in our terms in a way that makes teaching untenable (for example, sharing another operator’s product data from the room). In a conduct cancellation after opening, no refund is due, without prejudice to any non-excludable consumer right.
Exceptions
If illness or a family emergency documented in writing prevents you from starting, we will transfer the seat once at no extra fee, rather than argue about percentages. Materials already issued (charter templates) may remain with you; they are not a basis to keep the full fee if a full refund before opening is otherwise due.
